Hawra Rabaan

Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. Hawra Rabaan is a researcher and designer whose work is driven by a deep consideration for designing technologies that address cultural and gender-based inequities. Rabaan employs qualitative, quantitative, and design methods to (i) understand challenges faced by women in minority contexts; (ii) design interventions that address these challenges within users’ cultural values and practices, and (iii) apply frameworks, including feminist and alternative justice theories, to the design of new technologies. Rabaan has several scholarly papers in top-tier journals, including Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, books, and exploring new events and sights around the DMV area with her family.
