Jeovane Receives PMP Certificate
March 15, 2024
I’m thrilled to announce that as of March 15th, 2024, I have successfully obtained my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification! I began this journey at the end of January, with a goal of having obtained this certification by the end of Q1. After about 3 weeks of diligent preparation, I completed the Andrew Ramadayal Udemy course in early February. I was able to take this course for free via the public library. In addition to the Udemy course, I stumbled across the PMP reddit thread that proved to be an invaluable resource. At the recommendation of my fellow redditors, I also utilized PMI’s StudyHall, which really helped me to get familiar with the types of questions I’d be asked and get a feel for the exam overall. StudyHall consists of several different tools, games, and full-length practice exams to help really understand the material. This was one of the few paid resources I used. Additionally, I supplemented my studies with various other materials found on YouTube and Reddit.
The exam itself was comprised of ~180 questions, divided into three sections of 60 questions each, with 10-minute breaks between sections. With a time limit of 230 minutes (just under 4 hours), I used all, but 20 minutes of my exam time. I made it a point to thoroughly review all my answers at the end of each section before submitting. While I found the exam slightly easier than anticipated, there was still a level of anxiety given how important this was to me and how expensive the exam cost was at $405.00 for PMI Members and $575.00 for Non-Members. I received my preliminary pass before leaving the testing center and received my full results breakdown a couple days later, Above Target in all 3 areas! I am delighted to have achieved this significant milestone.
Obtaining my PMP certification opens a world of opportunities for me. It has been a longstanding goal for me as the work I do most often resides within the intersection of business, people and technology. With this certification, I am better equipped to step into roles that allow me to lead projects effectively and pursue new career opportunities. I am excited to see what path this new certification leads me on.
